Parent Coaching for Families & Parents in the Workplace

Kirsten Jensen, LMFTA

My Approach

I help parents use connection rather than control to create the relationship they want with their children.

As a parent, I can relate to how you’re feeling. When my daughter was 18 months old she threw a fork clear across the table during dinnertime, and I was filled with panic. Taking care of a baby was something I’d sort of gotten the hang of, but I was entirely unfamiliar with raising a child who had their own opinions and could exert their will. Growing up, my parents approached this behavior with a strict, authoritarian response. I knew I didn’t want to raise my daughter that way, and I also knew that I wanted to develop a meaningful relationship with her, one that was cooperative and free of the constant reminder of heavy-handed consequences.

It was then that I understood there was only one way to achieve this relationship and ignite my confidence as a parent – I had to find balance and I had to get some skills.

In 2011, I attended parenting classes and became inspired, receiving my Parenting Instructor Certification shortly after. From there, I began to lead parenting classes and support groups, helping other parents regain their footing and find joy again on their parenting journeys. Because the work I was doing impacted me deeply, I became a Licensed Marriage and Family Therapist to further provide assistance to families in need and to deepen my own parental knowledge.

With my extensive coaching and therapy background, I can help parents like you find the same balance I did, building a lasting bond with your child along the way. We’ll work together to help you create a lifelong positive connection, all while crafting healthy conflict resolution and communication skills that will benefit you through every stage of life.
